Andra’s Story

In 2015, my life changed forever.

I received a phone call that a young family friend, just 12 years old, had taken her own life. I was at a complete loss: how could this have happened?

I had two young daughters. We started gathering at the kitchen table to talk about our feelings, and who we could turn to in a moment of need. Together, we invented a friend and named him Enoughie Buddy. He was a unique child with a round, blue body, an expressive face, and antenna to help him feel other people’s emotions, as well as his own.

We made a journal where we could talk to Enoughie, and share whatever was on our hearts. I made copies of the journal and took them to my daughters’ school, but when I did, something unexpected happened. The principal asked for copies for the whole campus. Then, for five other campuses. I realized it wasn’t just my family that hungered these resources. It was countless families. Educators. And most importantly, children

The Kindness Campaign (TKC®) was born in 2015, and today we proudly serve over half a million individuals every year with emotional literacy tools and programming.
